HKR-013.33 - COWARD 7"

Due to some unforeseen and circuitous circumstances, I've been entrusted with some copies of the excellent COWARD 7".  This Nashville band plays a solid, weird brand of hardcore punk and I've got a small number of copies with Hip Kid specific covers.  There are 25 hand-numbered copies and once they're gone, that's it.  They should be ready in the next couple of days, so keep your eyes peeled!

Triumphant Return

Dead Uncles LP Update

Dead Uncles’ posthumous LP is lurching toward reality like a patient emerging from the haze of a fever dream.  The lacquers have just been approved and we should have test presses back soon.

The quixotic quest to press this future classic on vinyl was hatched by drummer Brian Thompson and 86′d Records – eventually implicating 86'd Records, Lost Cat Records, Shitty Present Records, and the mighty Different Kitchen Records from the U.K. The 10 track album was re-mixed in 2012 and mastered for vinyl by Dave Eck at Lucky Lacquers. The album artwork was re-worked for by Brian Thompson. A one-time pressing of 500 units is planned for a summer 2013 release.

“Stock Characters” was originally released on cassette by We Rise Tapes (Krystina from Curmudgeon’s label) and Trashy Tapes (Sadie from Peeple Watchin‘s label) just before the band broke up in 2012.

It's really happening.  

In other news, I'll be helping release a new 4 song cassette entitled "Year of the Wolf" by local thrashers Hedlok.  Production should begin on those this week and hopefully be available in the first half of June.  Keep an eye out for that and a sizeable distro update shortly.

So Many Things

Lots of stuff happening over here.  Let's make a list:

1) Just added some EXCELLENT Japanese punk to the distro.  It's a little more expensive than my other stuff, but that's because overseas shipping is the worst.  I assure you, this stuff is worth it.  CDs and 7"s from the likes of THIRSTY CHORDS, LEEWAY, INFRO and more!

2) I've started doing a zine distro and have added those to the webstore as well.  Scope them out and get something to read.  It's the cool thing to do.

3) Partners in crime NOT NORMAL and I have purchased the all the backstock for seminal Chicago label UNDERESTIMATED RECORDS.  Some great stuff from that will be surfacing soon and for cheaper than you'll get it most places.  Until then, if you want anything UNDERESTIMATED related, including weird rarities, drop me a line and I'll see if I can't hook it up.  Email me at hip.kid.records AT gmail.com

4) The USED section of the distro will launch soon.  It takes a long time, but there's some really cool stuff in there.  Got used records you don't want?  Send me a list.
